Schieffer Welcomes New Faculty for Fall 2026

Department of Film, Television and Digital Media

Assistant Professor of Professional Practice 

Gregg Easterbrook is a director of photography and director-cameraman with more than 25 years of experience. He has worked with leading studios and entertainment companies, including Paramount, MGM, Marvel, Columbia, Lionsgate, Apple TV, Hulu, Disney and Netflix, as well as major national advertising agencies and brands. 

Easterbrook enjoys teaching the theory and practice of film production and sharing his experience with the next generation of filmmakers. One of his favorite phrases to share with students is, “Creativity thrives on limitation.” 

He earned a B.A. in English and Education from Covenant College, then completed an MFA in Film & Video at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Drawing on this academic foundation and more than two decades of professional production experience, he will teach Pre-Production and The Art of Film and Television at TCU.  

Department of Strategic Communication

Assistant Professor of Strategic Communication 

Wenqing Zhao joined TCU with teaching experience at the University of Georgia and Washington State University, both in person and online. She has served as instructor of record for ADPR Research and Crisis Communication and as a lab instructor for Multimedia Content Creation. 

With a background in public relations, Zhao’s work seeks to advance both theory and practice in public relations. She values collaboration with colleagues and students and looks forward to contributing to the Schieffer College community while continuing to grow as a researcher and educator. 

Zhao’s research focuses on public relations and strategic communication, particularly crisis and conflict management. She examines how organizations can build trust, protect their reputations and communicate effectively during challenging situations. Her research also explores emerging issues such as artificial intelligence and the changing ways people receive and respond to information. 

She earned a doctorate in Mass Communication from the University of Georgia, an M.A. in Communication from Washington State University, and a B.A. in Journalism from Shanghai University. She will teach Public Relations at TCU.

Instructor of Strategic Communication 

Kimberly Keller brings extensive professional and teaching experience to the Bob Schieffer College of Communication. She has taught at the University of Memphis and TCU as an adjunct faculty member and served as a senior lecturer at the University of North Texas Mayborn School of Journalism, teaching courses in public relations, media writing and advertising. 

As a first-generation college graduate, Keller was inspired to teach by the professors who supported and challenged her as a student, with hopes to provide that same mentorship to her students. 

She earned a bachelor’s and master’s in Journalism from the University of Memphis, a certification in community relations from Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship and an accreditation in public relations from the Public Relations Society of America. She will teach Writing and Editing, Career Strategies and Law at TCU. 

Department of Communication Studies

Instructor of Communication Studies 

Bryan Edmonson has been in the communication field since 2000, first as a Public Affairs Officer in the U.S. Air Force and then in communication, marketing and ministry roles in various churches throughout Dallas-Fort Worth. Bryan has been teaching communication courses in higher education since 2020. 

He earned M.A. degrees in Communication and Worship Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. And a B.A. in Telecommunication from Baylor University. He will teach Communicating Effectively at TCU.

Assistant Professor in Communication Studies 

Rachel McKenzie has taught and engaged in research in the areas of interpersonal communication, communication technologies, intercultural communication, persuasive message design and health communication. 

Broadly, her research explores the impact of new communication technologies on professional mental healthcare and mental health self-management.

With her work, she aims to improve access to high-quality, tailored mental health support through the responsible use of new communication technologies. She is excited to explore how the expertise of the faculty at Schieffer College and the interests of her students shape the future of her research and teaching. 

McKenzie earned a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of California, Davis. An M.A. in Communication from Ohio State University and a B.S. in Neuroscience from Michigan State University. She will teach Intercultural Communication at TCU.
