Professor to Speak on Media’s Role in Human Trafficking Prevention

The annual Jim Wright Symposium this year will promote cross-disciplinary solutions to human trafficking and a member of the Bob Schieffer College of Communication faculty is among the speakers. From 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on February 7, 2019, all TCU students and faculty across departments are encouraged to participate in as many sessions as interested. The event will be separated into four sessions throughout the day.

From 10:40 a.m. to 11:55 a.m., Dr. Catherine A. Coleman, an associate professor of strategic communication, will speak on the media’s role in preventing human trafficking. Three industry professionals will participate in this discussion from the media’s perspective. Among these individuals is Dr. Sana Syed, an alumna of the journalism master’s program in the Schieffer College. Syed is a documentarian who brings awareness to humanitarian efforts around the world.

The event will take place at the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center. There is no cost for students to attend. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
