The Class of 2019: Kelly Trask

Major: Strategic Communication
Minor: Film, Television and Digital Media
Hometown: Highlands Ranch, Colorado

What lead you to choosing a major and a minor in the Schieffer College?
Right off the bat, I knew that this major and minor pairing was meant for me. Two of my brothers have graduated from TCU and were both in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication, if that tells you anything about how amazing the college is. I have always loved film, television, and pop culture. I’m the kind of person that has every popular TV or awards show recorded, and looks forward to the minute I get to watch them all day!

What are the top three skills you have learned from these two areas?
1. Thinking creatively and outside the box
2. Understanding and trends in the entertainment world
3. Expressing myself through my work

What has been one of your best experiences in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication?
Strategic communication offers an amazing study abroad program in London over the summer. Students can take classes, tour agencies, and explore another country while doing what they love. I went with three of my best friends (who are ALL in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication!) and had an unforgettable experience. If I had the chance to relive it, I would do it 1,000 times.

What stands out to you about the professors?
My professors are awesome. Every single one has won some type of award, has had an extensive career, and has valuable connections in the business. It’s so cool to see that they want to share their love of the field with students.
