Careers in Strategic Communication

A Bachelor of Science degree in Strategic Communication prepares students for positions at agencies, corporations, public-sector and nonprofit organizations. The Department of Strategic Communication prepares students to amplify messages and use strategic thinking that is informed by research. Students learn to perfect their writing skills, develop their creativity, and enhance their business knowledge to be successful.

Advertising and Public Relations professionals develop and maintain programs that provide information and present favorable public images for the organizations they represent. This involves providing information about the organization, its goals and accomplishments, and any further plans or projects of public interest. This may include channel planning, developing communication plans, creating campaigns, media relations, public speaking, fundraising, research, writing, crisis communication, and special events for a comprehensive communication effort. Students also become adept at social media monitoring and measurement, as well as use of graphic design software for visual communication.
