Q & A with Porter Carroll

Major: Strategic Communication
Class: Sophomore
Hometown: Kansas City, Missouri

Why did you choose TCU?
When I applied to TCU, I wasn’t highly considering it until I came to visit. I not only loved the campus, but everyone that I met was genuine and welcoming. I chose TCU because of the campus community and the opportunities that they offered.

What inspired you to be a strategic communication major?
Going into college, I knew that I wanted to have a career in the marketing world. I decided that I wanted to be on more of the creative side of marketing and strategic communication seemed to be the perfect match for me.

What has been your favorite class in strategic communication?
My favorite class has been Writing and Editing. The class was very interactive and we had the opportunity to deal with real companies. My teacher, Sarah Angle, was very engaging and dedicated to her students.

What do you plan to do after college?
After college, I plan on a career at an advertising agency in Dallas, Chicago or Kansas City.

Are you interested in studying abroad?
I would love to spend time studying abroad in Europe. Not only would it be amazing to travel to another part of the world, but also I believe it would give me the opportunity to learn a tremendous amount. I am looking forward to studying abroad in Edinburgh and London this summer with the Strategic Communication Department.

Are you involved in any campus organizations?
I am involved in Chi Omega and TCU Ambassadors, as well as being a Wish Granter for Make-A-Wish. I am also involved in Renovate, a college ministry group at Christ Chapel Bible Church.
