Strategic Communications class launches "Humans of TCU" on Facebook

FORT WORTH, TX — The Strategic Communication Writing class launched Humans of TCU-HTCU Facebook page featuring members of the campus community. “We are excited to be able to create a space where we can tell the stories and learn about the diverse people in the Horned Frog community,” said Dr. Amiso George, associate professor of strategic communication. George introduced the idea to her class at the start of the semester. “I wanted to add something different, interesting and meaningful for students in my Strategic Writing class,” George said. Dr. Jacque Lambiase, chair of the Strategic Communication Department, said, “It’s great to have our students doing some hands-on work with a form of social media that showcases our TCU community.” Two students in the class, Makenna Morris and Elle Sparks, were assigned the task of setting up the page. “I wanted to be a part of this movement that has a great potential to leave its mark on the TCU Nation as a whole, “ said Morris. Humans of TCU Facebook page will showcase the willingness of members of the TCU community to tell their stories in a way that only they could. Elle Sparks, a strategic communication major and co-administrator of the page said, “I  chose to be a part of Humans of TCU to help unite this community. I love TCU and learning about the people that make it so great.” Following the launch Monday, the page will post one story every weekday. Humans of TCU-HTCU is based on the wildly successful Humans of New York-HONY Facebook page started by photographer Brandon Stanton.
