Roxo Takes on Its First International Client

Working with Wetlands International for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU’s student-driven strategic communication agency, Roxo, has begun to work with its first-ever international client, Wetlands International on its Mangroves and Climate Change Project. Working with the organization’s regional office for Latin America and the Caribbean, located in Panama, Roxo is currently creating a logo and slogan for this project. “The relationship started last year when Wetlands International visited TCU as part of the water theme,” said Margaret Ritsch, Roxo’s faculty advisor. “Julio Montes de Oca L., head of the organization’s Panama location, visited Roxo and that was the genesis of the idea of the two parties working together.” Account executive Taylor Hardy is quickly adapting to the long-distance working relationship with Wetlands International, and has been successful in consistently communicating with communications coordinator, Sander Carpay. “Working with Sander from Wetlands International has been such a great experience due to his willingness to be involved and provide feedback through emails and our weekly Skype meetings,” said Hardy. Twelve students will travel to Panama next spring to explore Panama City and its region, along with collaborate with Wetlands International. Ritsch, who also took a group of students to Panama last spring with faculty member Laura Bright, will lead this study abroad trip. The organization’s Mangroves and Climate Change Project aims to increase awareness of the role of Panama’s mangrove forests in relation to climate change, along with promote their protection. Roxo plans to finish the creative deliverables for Wetlands International in time for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will take place in Paris on Nov. 30.
