How can advertising be a force for social good? Just ask our department chair, Dr. Catherine Coleman!
Dr. Coleman and co-author Dr. Linda Tuncay Zayer, of Loyola University in Chicago, were invited to HEC Paris, one of the world’s top-ranked business schools, to present their current research on the transformative potential of advertising in pursuit of individual, organizational, and social well-being.
They discussed their work on advertising ethics and gender representations (Journal of Advertising, 2015), on the institutional work of advertisers navigating social transition (Journal of Macromarketing, 2020), and their framework for Transformative Advertising Research, co-authored with Dr. Lauren Gurrieri (RMIT Australia) (forthcoming, Journal of Advertising).
Currently, they are working with the Association of National Advertisers’ SeeHer initiative on research to promote positive representations of women and girls in advertising.
