The Class of 2018: Alexis Bierman

Major: News and Media Studies
Hometown: Midlothian, Texas
New Home: Washington, D.C.

Alexis Bierman made the most of her time in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication. Before her graduation in 2018, she was an intern at two magazines (Paper City and D Magazine), a member of a sorority, studied abroad in Europe, and spent a semester working in Washington, D.C., as part of the program offered by the Schieffer College.

“I took a bit of a non-traditional path,” Bierman said. Her second semester junior year, she studied abroad in Italy. Immediately after, she then studied and worked in Washington, D.C. the first semester of her senior year. “It was an amazing experience,” she said. “I wouldn’t have had it any other way.”

During her time at Texas Christian University, Bierman was a news and media studies major. “The Schieffer College is really great,” she said. “There are so many opportunities for students to get involved both on and off campus.”

Now, Bierman works in Washington, D.C. “I really had the time of my life when I spent a semester here my senior year. It’s an amazing place to work, live, and be a young adult,” she said. “If I never had spent a semester here, I don’t know if I would have made the leap of faith in coming here. If anyone is considering the Washington, D.C. program, I highly recommend it!”
