Life Changing Opportunities

Megan Guter is a senior journalism major from New Orleans, Louisiana. “One of the best things about Texas Christian University is getting the opportunity to gain real-world experience throughout my time here,” Guter said. She works as TCU Student Media’s audience engagement editor, running the social media profiles for TCU 360, PolitiFrog and The 109.

Megan found her passion for radio while interning at The Ryan Seacrest Foundation in Dallas. “My amazing professor and mentor Jean Marie Brown got me connected to this foundation which completely changed the path of what I wanted to do career wise,” Guter said.

The summer after her internship with The Ryan Seacrest Foundation, she interned with a children’s radio station at Sirius XM in Washington, D.C. Guter said her classes, especially her media management class, helped her in all of the internships she has had. “I believe that the Journalism department offers a well-rounded major that gives students a taste of every aspect of the field,” Guter said.

After she graduates, Guter is interested in going back to Sirius XM to start her career. “I definitely really enjoyed my experience at Sirius XM, and if I could go back I would,” she said. “However, I’m also really interested in the film route, specifically film and television production. That passion comes from my film, television and digital media minor.”
