A news story written by a Schieffer College student Haeven Gibbons about the state of homelessness in Tarrant County has been published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Gibbons’ reporting found that colder temperatures, the economy and the pandemic are putting a strain on local shelters’ resources. The sophomore journalism major originally wrote the article for her reporting class, taught by Jean Marie Brown, and on Jan. 19, it appeared as the page one centerpiece story on the Star-Telegram’s website.
