Shugofa Dastgeer, assistant professor of journalism at Texas Christian University, recently told a little of her story to Natalie Solis for her In the Now segment on Fox 4 News. Denied formal schooling in Afghanistan until she was 16 years old, Dastgeer eagerly made up for lost time. Dastgeer recently earned her doctorate in journalism at the University of Oklahoma and joined the TCU faculty in January.
