Caleb Gottry ’26 Lands Prestigious Dow Jones News Fund Internship

Caleb Gottry, junior journalism major at TCU, has been selected for the highly competitive Dow Jones News Fund internship program, specializing in multiplatform editing.

This summer, Gottry will participate in a weeklong training session in Austin, Texas, before beginning a seven-week internship to focus on editing tasks across digital and print platforms.

According to the Dow Jones News Fund, multiplatform editing interns sharpen stories for clarity, accuracy and style while writing SEO-friendly headlines and helping shape visual layouts under tight deadlines.

Gottry said the opportunity is particularly meaningful given how rare editing internships are in journalism.

“It’s very cool to be part of this because of how selective the program is,” Gottry said. “The internship gives me the chance to see what it’s really like to edit in a professional newsroom.”

The timing of the internship aligns perfectly with his next big role: executive editor of TCU 360 starting in fall 2025.

“I’m excited to implement what I learn this summer — whether it’s improving our story budgeting, editing workflows or building out TCU 360’s online multimedia presence,” he said.

What is he looking forward to the most?

“Honestly, getting my hands dirty,” Gottry said. “I love playing with words and digital elements. That’s what I get to do all summer. I’m excited to polish my AP style, learn newsroom best practices and grow my editing skills and portfolio.”
