Garrett Crissman: One Career Path of a Communication Studies Major

Garrett Crissman ’15 always wanted to work with the military community and found his fit with First Command Financial Services. Crissman comes from a military family and finds great pride and joy being able to give back to the community and help military families become financially independent.

Crissman is a customer service advisor at First Command Financial Services in Fort Worth, Texas. First Command helps military families find financial security. He works with high net worth individuals and their families with investment-related sections. He also works with the development of the new-hire training handbook used for all new employees at the company. He hopes to achieve a leadership position one day with First Command.

Crissman graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in communication studies. He believes TCU helped him become a confident public speaker, a great writer, a mindful world viewer and develop the soft skills that prepared him for post-graduation.

While at TCU, Crissman worked with the Writing Center, Neeley Professional Development Center, and was even able to land a market research internship. But his favorite memory from his college years was watching the 2015 Alamo Bowl game in San Antonio, Texas, where the Horned Frogs came from behind to defeat the Oregon Ducks 47-41.
