Class of 2020: Meet Chase Glotfelty! (psst—it’s pronounced Glot-fel-ty)

Name: Chase Glotfelty
Hometown: Houston, Texas
Major: Communication Studies

How did you find Texas Christian University?
My dad went to TCU in the 1980s, so it was always my first choice.

What is the first memory you have of the TCU campus?
My first memory was walking into Foster Hall with my roommate, setting up our room and meeting our neighbors across the hall.

What made you want to be a communication studies major?
I always knew that I was a good communicator, and math isn’t my strong suit.

How do explain your major to friends and family?
The first thing I tell them is it isn’t just about talking, there is a lot of theory involved in what we learn  we learn how to communicate in all different types of groups ranging from small families to large corporations. We also learn different types of communication ranging from mediation to public speaking.

What is your favorite thing about the Bob Schieffer College of Communication?
My favorite part by far is the teachers. All of them are respectful, caring and just want you to do the best you can. They are always there to help no matter what the situation is.

Do you have any funny anecdotes about college?
One would assume I do, but at this moment I can’t think of any. I can say this though, I wouldn’t change anything for these last three years. The friendships I have made will last many years after we graduate.

What are your career plans after graduation?
I will be working in Dallas for a talent management company that specializes in professional athletes. I plan on going back to grad school or law school to further my career in the sports management field.
