What is your favorite mode of communication?

Face-to-face conversation because you can see all the non-verbal and verbal cues that are being given—plus it’s the most engaging form of communication in my opinion.

Why Communication Studies?

I didn’t know what I wanted to major in so I picked Communication Studies because no matter where you work communication is key. I am also a Journalism major. The two majors have definitely worked together because in journalism we have to interview people all the time so I use what I have learned from my communication theory classes to get a really personable interview.

What opportunities and skills has studying Communication Studies and Journalism already given you?

The small classes have helped me really connect with my professors who are well connected to the industry in this area which will definitely help me get my first job in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I also work with TCU 360. TCU 360 is a student-led and faculty-advised news source. TCU 360 brings people to TCU that are from the local ABC-affiliated network, WFAA. TCU brings professionals into the classroom—in essence they bring jobs directly to us.
