Media outlets across the country are highlighting the work of Andrew Ledbetter, professor and chair of communication studies in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication at TCU.

Ledbetter’s research into the storytelling and communication phenomena of Taylor Swift was recently featured on NBC 5, NBC Today and 100.3 Jack FM. The story was picked up by multiple outlets across Texas, Mississippi and North Carolina. His analysis explores how Swift’s lyrics create a cohesive narrative universe across her albums, connecting themes of fame, womanhood and fulfillment. Ledbetter said he believes there is absolutely an academic aspect to understanding Swift and beyond.
“I think it also helps us understand overall, ‘How do we engage with stories in art and what stories do we find most interesting and compelling?’” he said.
When Life of a Showgirl was first released in October, Ledbetter was featured in the Fort Worth Report and in HuffPost. Through his nationally recognized research, Ledbetter is bringing academic insight to one of pop culture’s most influential artists, showcasing how TCU research reaches far beyond the classroom.
