The Class of 2019: Scout Johnson

Major: Strategic Communication
Minor: Film, Television and Digital Media
Hometown: Wilmette, Illinois

Why did you choose TCU?
Hugh Rabjohns, my best friend from high school, is why I choose TCU. He wouldn’t stop nagging me in science class to go visit. When I finally visited, I fell in love with the campus. TCU isn’t too big or too small. The class sizes serve a perfect comfortability, where you can create a relationship with the professor and still know a handful of students in each class.

Why did you choose to study film?
I chose to study film, television and digital media because I thought it was going to be an interesting minor. It was especially beneficial for the preliminary classes. I’ve been able to incorporate the basic strategies from classes into my internship with HBO. I hope to use it going forward when looking at jobs in agency settings.

What has been your favorite class so far in film and why?
My favorite class in my minor was surprisingly in Madrid, Spain called International Film and Media. I learned so many aspects of the industry that I had never thought of in my classes here at TCU. Spain uses media in a very unique way compared to America. The class was interesting and beneficial in all aspects of the film, television and digital areas of society.

What do you want to do after you graduate?
I would like to work in a creative field – advertising or graphic design. Corporation or agency.

Who do you want to play you in a movie about your life?
ummmmmm idk… someone cool? Maybe Leonardo DiCaprio?
