The Class of 2019: Mackenzie Hozdic

Major: Film, Television and Digital Media

Hometown: Atlanta, Texas

Why did you choose Texas Christian University?

I knew TCU was the perfect fit for me after visiting campus and seeing all the student interaction. TCU is the perfect size and allows students to feel valued by their peers and professors.

What made you choose film, television and digital media as your major?

I was unsure of what I wanted to study when I came to TCU, but I knew I was interested in the entertainment industry. After taking a few classes in the major, I knew that it was for me. Because of the numerous hands-on opportunities, I know I will be prepared for my future.

What was your favorite class?

My favorite class was Basic Video Production with Dr. Dustin Hahn. I learned how different cameras function and editing which has been useful in other classes. At first, I was intimidated by all the equipment since I had zero experience in production, but after taking this class, I can confidently use cameras and the various types of editing software. Taking Basic Video Production was an exciting experience because the hands-on work that I did during this class helped me learn more about the profession while also moving out of my comfort zone and learning something new about myself.

What movie or TV show is your guilty pleasure?

I am a sucker for reality TV. I enjoy the “The Bachelor” and the “The Bachelorette.” I love to watch real life unfold. There is nothing like a little bit of drama, love and competition.

What do you want to do after you graduate?

Although I don’t know exactly what I would like to do after I graduate, I can see myself working in social media or digital advertising. I enjoy the creative aspect in careers like these, and I feel they would be a great fit for me. The digital industry is huge and I am looking forward to exploring my opportunities and finding my passion.
