The Class of 2019: Chase Cameron

Major: Film, Television and Digital Media
Hometown: San Diego, California

Why did you choose Film, Television and Digital Media as a major?
Simply put, I chose to major in film, television and digital media because I wanted to pursue a career in sports broadcasting. I knew I would minor in business because TCU doesn’t offer a sports management program and I want to go to graduate school for sports management one day.

What was your favorite class?
Business of Media or Principles of Marketing were my favorite classes at TCU. Dr. Kimberly Owczarski was an amazing teacher for Business of Media and Professor Bob Akin was an awesome guy to learn marketing from. Both teachers were open-minded and always willing to go the extra mile to help me and other students succeed in the course.

What was your first impression of TCU?
My first impression of TCU was being surprised at how easy the campus was to navigate and how kind everyone was.

What is your favorite memory from your first year?
My favorite memory from my first year at school here was on a Wednesday night my first week of school. I went bowling with some people and ended up meeting Bryce Maloy, who went to high school down the street from me. I had never met Bryce before but we immediately became friends and he remains my best friend here to this day.

What does Texas do better than California?
Everything. I was born in Houston and lived there for the first eight years of my life. Then, my family and I moved to San Diego for a job promotion my dad received. Immediately I realized the people and culture in Texas were irreplaceable. Boy, am I glad to be back. Also, Whataburger > In-N-Out.

Spring semester or Fall semester?
I don’t really have a preference for semesters. Maybe fall because of football season. Go Frogs, baby!

Favorite late-night snack?
Toppers – if you haven’t been it’s pizza without the marinara. I never thought I would like it but it’s everyone’s favorite late-night bite here.

First thing you do when you come home?
Turn on the TV.
