Jane Morey, Class of 2023

Name: Jane Morey
Hometown: Beaverton, Oregon
Major:  Film, Television and Digital Media
Dream Job: Video editor for Nike
Class: Firstyear

Why did you choose Texas Christian University?
I chose TCU because it’s a small school but still has big sports. I wanted to experience college football games but also have small class sizes so I could engage better with my professors and fellow students

What is your favorite film, television and digital media class?
My favorite class is History of Broadcasting because you know most of the important movies in film history, but important TV shows in broadcasting history aren’t talked about much. It was very interesting to see how the shows we watch now use characteristics of older shows.

What is your favorite thing about your major?
My favorite thing is that you have almost all the same people in your classes and everyone shares a passion for film. It’s also fun to debate with each other on your favorite movies and TV shows.

What do you think is the biggest misconception about your major?
I think that people tend to believe that it is a really easy major, but it’s as hard as any other major. You need to learn the history but also grow your creativity while learning from past filmmakers and producers.

If you could live in any country in the world where would you live?
I would live in Rome or somewhere else in Italy. I think the architecture is beautiful and inspiring and I would love to learn more about their different cultures

What do you think is the most underrated place in Fort Worth?
This isn’t a specific place, but I don’t think people appreciate the giant lizard outside the Fort Worth Zoo. It changes hats for the holidays and always makes me super happy when I’m driving back to campus.
