Class of 2021: Laura Fuentes
Name: Laura Fuentes
Major: Film, Television and Digital Media
Hometown: Fort Worth
Laura Fuentes is a film, television and digital media major from Fort Worth. She chose Texas Christian University because of how close to home she would be. Fuentes said she also chose TCU because of the financial assistance offered.
Fuentes said her favorite part about the major is the variety of courses offered. “There are some focused on writing, production, industry and theory,” she said. “These options will help me understand what I want to do after graduation.”
Fuentes’ favorite course was Documentary Production. “This class really put into perspective what it’s like to work with a client and create something you are proud of,” she said.
“The class taught me how to start and finish a documentary.”
Fuentes was involved in the department–produced documentary, “Worthy of More,” as a writer and researcher. “Worthy of More” is a documentary about sex trafficking in Fort Worth. The class partnered with The NET Fort Worth, a nonprofit organization, to bring awareness to the issue. Fuentes said her favorite part was learning about the topic and about her peers. “We learned a lot from each other, particularly our strengths and challenges,” she said.
Fuentes said that when she graduates, she hopes to work for a production company.
