Kylo-Patrick Hart, department chair and professor of film, television and digital media, examines arctic cinemas in his latest book, titled “Arctic Cinemas: Essays on Polar Spaces and the Popular Imagination.” Arctic cinemas represent a new subfield of film studies of the Arctic region, an area greatly affected by climate change. The book features a collection of essays written by artists, academic scholars and filmmakers who examine the variety of films, documentaries, road and horror movies that fall within the “Arctic cinema” genre. The book is published by McFarland.
