As Taylor Sheridan’s hit Paramount+ series Landman returns to TCU for its third season, Tricia Jenkins, professor of film, television and digital media in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication, is highlighting how the production is creating opportunities for students to experience the television industry firsthand.
In recent coverage from The Dallas Morning News and WFAA, Jenkins discussed the educational significance of bringing a major television production to campus and the access it provides students interested in pursuing careers in film and television.
With Landman filming at TCU for the third consecutive season, students have continued to benefit from opportunities to observe professional production crews in action.
“Each season, they have invited our students in film, television and digital media to shadow their production units for half of the day,” Jenkins said. “The experience gives these students a unique and up-close look at what goes into a major television production and how each unit contributes to the artistry of the overall production.”
Nearly 30 students were invited to shadow production crews during filming, gaining exposure to the technical and creative processes involved in producing a major scripted television series.
Jenkins’ perspective underscores the value of connecting classroom instruction with professional industry experiences, particularly as Fort Worth continues to attract major film and television productions.
Through opportunities like these, Schieffer College students can deepen their understanding of the industry while building connections between their academic studies and future careers.
