Sue Ann Sandusky
As a rifle athlete, Sue Ann Sandusky was TCU’s first woman All-American, earning the honor three times. She also won three medals at the 1978 World Shooting Championships. During 37 years in the U.S. Army, she achieved the rank of colonel and served extensively in Africa, supporting peacekeeping missions, evacuations and deployments in crises in Liberia, Congo-Kinshasa, Congo-Brazzaville, Côte d’Ivoire and Sierra Leone. For her service, she received awards from the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of State, the Economic Community of West African States, the Government of Côte d’Ivoire and the Government of Liberia. She also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, canoed on the Zambezi and trekked to Timbuktu. In retirement, she earned a doctoral degree in higher education from Bowling Green State University and taught part-time at Ohio’s Tiffin University.
