TCU alumnus Ryan Cormier<\/p><\/div>\n

Ryan Cormier and Rolando Guerrero first crossed paths in\u00a0<\/span>Texas Christian University\u2019s<\/span> Bob Schieffer <\/span>College of\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>ommunication<\/span>\u00a0in 2006<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>The two\u00a0<\/span>always<\/span>\u00a0had an interest in creative process and execution<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>enjoyed verbal and visual communication<\/span>\u00a0and gained<\/span>\u00a0interest in<\/span>\u00a0design programs at an early age.\u00a0<\/span>They chose <\/span>AD\/PR<\/span>\u00a0(<\/span>later<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>renamed<\/span>\u00a0strategic communication)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>because\u00a0<\/span>they<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>felt\u00a0<\/span>the program\u00a0<\/span>had everything\u00a0<\/span>they\u00a0<\/span>needed to support<\/span>\u00a0their creative ambitions.\u00a0<\/span>While at <\/span>TCU<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Cormier and Guerrero<\/span>\u00a0w<\/span>ere<\/span>\u00a0able to\u00a0<\/span>collaborate\u00a0<\/span>with their peers\u00a0<\/span>in the National Student Advertising Competition.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this\u00a0<\/span>competition, and capstone class<\/span>, they\u00a0<\/span>were given a client and had to develop a<\/span>n advertising\/public relations<\/span>\u00a0strategy,\u00a0<\/span>solution,\u00a0<\/span>plan book<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and presentation for a<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>national initiative to prevent\u00a0<\/span>minors<\/span>\u00a0from binge drinking. This once-in-a-lifetime experience prepped\u00a0<\/span>the two\u00a0<\/span>for the real world<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and it benefited them greatly<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Regional success in the competition<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>took<\/span>\u00a0Cormier and Guerrero<\/span>\u00a0to nationals in Washington, D.C.<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0where\u00a0<\/span>their team<\/span>\u00a0placed in the top 10<\/span>. After graduation, the two\u00a0<\/span>took<\/span>\u00a0different paths but not for long.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Both remained in Fort Worth<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Guerrero started his career at Agency Habitat while Cormier went with Glint Advertising. In their time apart<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0the two\u00a0<\/span>went on\u00a0<\/span>to strengthen and refine\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0skills<\/span> they had learned in the Schieffer <\/span>College.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>About<\/span>\u00a0two years later,\u00a0<\/span>Guerrero recruited Cormier to come work for Agency Habitat<\/span>. Here<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Cormier got to\u00a0<\/span>live his dream of\u00a0<\/span>be<\/span>ing a<\/span>\u00a0part of a\u00a0<\/span>large-scale agency\u00a0<\/span>while working\u00a0<\/span>with\u00a0<\/span>his friend.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cormier\u00a0<\/span>has\u00a0<\/span>honed<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>his digital marketing and client service<\/span>\u00a0skills<\/span> at the agency while <\/span>Guerrero\u00a0<\/span>focused<\/span>\u00a0on\u00a0<\/span>branding,\u00a0<\/span>design and <\/span>digital media<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Despite\u00a0<\/span>workin<\/span>g<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>separate segments of the agency, the<\/span>\u00a0two remain\u00a0<\/span>close as a team<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Guerrero\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>aid<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>“<\/span>W<\/span>e brainstorm new ideas<\/span>\u00a0together<\/span>, constantly feed<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0off one another<\/span>\u00a0in a ping\u00a0<\/span>pong-like<\/span>\u00a0manner. We fire off ideas to one another to get the creative juices flowing\u00a0<\/span>just like we did in the National Student Advertising Competition<\/span>.<\/span>“<\/span>\u00a0Since graduating, the pair has made quite\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>\u00a0splash together<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0bringing Agency\u00a0<\/span>Habitat’s<\/span>\u00a0creative concepts to life.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I’m<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>very<\/span>\u00a0glad that I\u00a0<\/span>earned<\/span>\u00a0a degree from TCU because it opened so many doors for me in the agency world<\/span>,\u201d said Cormier. \u201c<\/span>I\u00a0<\/span>learned\u00a0<\/span>so<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>many intangible skills such as creativity, accountability, collaboration and discipline that have all guided me on the path to my dream job<\/span>.<\/span>“<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Many<\/span>\u00a0alumni from the College\u00a0<\/span>of Communication\u00a0<\/span>have worked\u00a0<\/span>at Agency Habitat, for<\/span>merly GCG\u00a0<\/span>M<\/span>arketing<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0either as interns or\u00a0<\/span>entry-level<\/span>\u00a0positions<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>In addition to Cormier and Guerrero, <\/span>other<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>strategic communication alumni<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>working at Agency Habitat\u00a0<\/span>include Allyson Cross, Alexandra Ward, Samantha Streit and Callie Jo Williams.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
