Most people would say marketing and theatre do not go hand-and-hand. For\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">her<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, however, anything is possible. From performing under the bright lights on the stage to creating advertisements for Dr. Pepper, whatever it is,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">she<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">will find a way to add\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">her\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">zeal<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. When it came to selecting a college that made her feel at home, while at the same time encouraging her to showcase her\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">creativity<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">through both theatre and marketing\/advertising, T<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">exas Christian University<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">solidified itself\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">as\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">her<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0new home.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Hicks<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">is more than a double<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">major.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">n her ambitious spirit,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">she\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">finds ways to incorporate her affinity<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">for performing into the world of strategic communication. \u201cThe storytelling that takes place in theatre is synonymous to storytelling in strategic communication,\u201d <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">she said<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559731&quot;:720,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The strategic communication major encourages\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Hick<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">s&#8217;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">creativity<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">and embodies her love for storytelling.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">It<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">allows her to be hands-on, bringing her ideas to lif<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">e and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0into a beautiful story.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">n her admiration for\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">narrative<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">she\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">has always enjoyed advertising that tells a good story. \u201cWhen I see a piece that is centered on the human experience, it&#8217;s gonna stick with me more than anything else,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cI have<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0taken a vested interest in understanding the practicality of strategic communication and storytelling<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0through classes such as\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Media Law<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, which\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">has been\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">my<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0favorite class\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">to date.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">When\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Hicks<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0isn\u2019t on campus, you can find her on Magnolia Avenue, studying at one of the many bohemian coffee shops, enjoying live music or simply browsing the vintage stores and quaint galleries.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The arts have always come naturally to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Hicks<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. The freedom<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">in acting as well as being around other\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">creatives\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">inspires everything she does. When given an assignment, even in practical classes such as Media Law,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">she<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">will find a way to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">stand<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0out, bringing along with her a refreshing sense of uniquenes<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. \u201cWhen I take on a task I\u2019m always going to give it 100 percent,\u201d she said. Her\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">passion<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0for theatre and other forms of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">creative<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">media sets her apart<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">from the crowd.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Hicks<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">is more than\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">passionate<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">about theatre<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0performance<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0and other forms of expression.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">She<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">is\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">involv<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> in extracurriculars such as the Paradox College ministry and the APO theatre service fraternity. Being a \u201chopeless romantic,\u201d as <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">she<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">describe<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0herself, made her fall in love with TCU and its community of people. For\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">her<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, relationships are a priority.
