\nMajor:\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Strategic Communication<\/p>\n

While at Texas Christian University,<\/span>\u00a0Jenna Dukes<\/span> \u201919 was involved\u00a0<\/span>in the Frog Shadow Program, a\u00a0<\/span>member of\u00a0<\/span>Kappa\u00a0<\/span>Kappa<\/span>\u00a0Gamma, wrote for the\u00a0<\/span>student newspaper<\/span>, The Skiff, and volunteered for Frogs for Autism. Dukes<\/span>\u00a0also<\/span>\u00a0served as a Rho Gamma, a Panhellenic woman who disassociates from their chapter to help Potential New Members (PNMs) through the recruitment process.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, Dukes works for\u00a0<\/span>the advertising agency\u00a0<\/span>PMG in Dallas<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>as a\u00a0<\/span>junior d<\/span>esigner. “Though I am a graphic designer, which was my minor, I find myself using tools I learned in my strategic communication classes all of the time<\/span>,\u201d she said. \u201c<\/span>Creative and strategic communication go hand and hand; the strategy determines the direction of the creative<\/span>.<\/span>“<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dukes knew early on that strategic communication was the right fit for her.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>“It fits so perfectly with my love for graphic design and served my interest in the strategy behind media and advertising,” she\u00a0<\/span>said<\/span>. “I enjoyed what I was learning in my classes at the Bob Schieffer College of Communication and felt motivated by them.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Preparing for the real<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>world can be quite intimidating. Dukes talked about how the Schieffer College<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>prepared her for life after college. “I learned how to think on my feet, always show up prepared, and communicate well with individuals from different backgrounds,” she said. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dukes<\/span>\u00a0said\u00a0<\/span>the most beneficial class she took was Dr. Ashley English’s Case Studies class. “It taught me a lot about slowing down and doing the research. As a student, I didn’t ever want to read or reread the fine print but doing your research is so important in knowing the core of your client and being able to serve them well<\/span>.<\/span>”\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dukes<\/span>\u00a0was very reflective of her time at TCU.\u00a0<\/span>Her<\/span>\u00a0fondest\u00a0<\/span>memories<\/span>\u00a0included<\/span> time spent with <\/span>her<\/span>\u00a0friends.\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>I know that’s a clich\u00e9 answer, but in post-grad\/working life, you don’t\u00a0<\/span>get to spend as much free time with your friends<\/span>,\u201d she said. \u201c<\/span>It makes me miss living with my friends and being able to spend all day together.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
