Alejandra Serna is a creative person at heart and has many dreams she would love to accomplish within her life. Growing up, she lived in the same house, attended the same school and knew the same people her entire life, so leav<\/span>ing\u00a0<\/span>home to come to Texas Christian University was a huge step for her.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Se<\/span>rna<\/span>\u00a0knew she wanted to stay in Texas for a little bit longer<\/span>, so she looked into many\u00a0<\/span>Texas colleges<\/span>\u00a0and liked most of them, but<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>o<\/span>nce it was time for her to start campus visits, her decision<\/span>\u00a0started to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>become<\/span> clear. \u201cAs soon as I stepped foot on the campus, I knew it was the place for me,\u201d s<\/span>he said<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0\u201cI just got the instant feeling of comfort and safety that I didn\u2019t experience with the other campuses I visited.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>TCU gave her\u00a0<\/span>the chance to grow and expand her experience\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>\u00a0the world.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Serna<\/span>\u00a0caught a little of this feeling when she got the chance to study\u00a0<\/span>abroad<\/span>\u00a0with TCU in Florence<\/span>, Italy,<\/span>\u00a0for a semester. She\u00a0<\/span>felt<\/span>\u00a0it benefited her greatly because she got the chance to experience international classes and grow as an individual<\/span>. It was one of her best\u00a0<\/span>experiences<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>at TCU and Serna says she is blessed and thankful she had the option to study internationally with her fellow strategic communication students.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Serna<\/span> didn\u2019t start off being a strategic communication major. Instead, she came to TCU with the intention to study journalism because she loves to write. After a while, she heard from fellow students about the strategic communication degree and it all made sense to her. She still loves journalism, but public relations <\/span>was<\/span>\u00a0an industry that always intrigued her<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>A<\/span>nd a strategic communication degree\u00a0<\/span>gave<\/span>\u00a0her the opportunity to broaden her career path,\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0still have the option to write from time to time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Serna<\/span>\u00a0loves writing so much\u00a0<\/span>that it is her favorite hobby and activity<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWriting really helps me process all my\u00a0<\/span>emotions<\/span>\u00a0and I love telling stories,\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>she<\/span>\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/span>She\u00a0<\/span>has been\u00a0<\/span>collaborating on a book with her best friend\u00a0<\/span>who<\/span>\u00a0she has known since the age of three\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0also\u00a0<\/span>happened<\/span>\u00a0to go to TCU with her<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0It will be a satire that highlights their\u00a0<\/span>college\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>experience.<\/span>\u00a0The title is still in the works, but she and her friend hope to have it finished\u00a0<\/span>soon<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>The book will showcase the common college experiences that people have faced and share how everyone handled it.\u00a0<\/span>Bringing together her experience with her strategic communication major and journalism minor\u00a0<\/span>has been<\/span>\u00a0a great asset\u00a0<\/span>while<\/span>\u00a0writing her book, and\u00a0<\/span>she<\/span>\u00a0is excited for what else she can accomplish in the future.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Serna is\u00a0<\/span>working as<\/span>\u00a0a social media coordinator at LComm Marketing and Public Relations in Fort Worth.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
