Madison<\/span>\u00a0McQuary<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>discovered<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>B<\/span>ob\u00a0<\/span>Schieffer College of Communication\u00a0<\/span>her\u00a0<\/span>first<\/span>\u00a0year<\/span>\u00a0at\u00a0<\/span>Texas Christian University<\/span>. She\u00a0<\/span>applied\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>Strategic Communication<\/span>\u00a0program<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>three\u00a0<\/span>months later<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>was accepted.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The personalized classes really\u00a0<\/span>attracted<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>her,\u00a0<\/span>and she was able\u00a0<\/span>to tailor a\u00a0<\/span>college experience to <\/span>he<\/span>r interests<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to M<\/span>cQuary,\u00a0<\/span>it\u2019s not only her creativity that fuels her but also her sense of strategic thinking<\/span>, which she first discovered in\u00a0<\/span>Research<\/span>\u00a0with<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Dr. Jong-Hyuok Jung. The research<\/span>\u00a0class was the perfect combination of creative art and science.\u00a0<\/span>She<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>believed<\/span>\u00a0her first academic milestone in the program<\/span>\u00a0came with a Tesla research project.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>She was challenged to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>perform<\/span>\u00a0extensive research\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0create a cohesive\u00a0<\/span>solution for a situation<\/span>\u00a0that Tesla<\/span>\u00a0was\u00a0<\/span>facing. This hands-on experience she gained in class\u00a0<\/span>made<\/span>\u00a0her hungry for more<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>pointing<\/span>\u00a0her\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Roxo<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>the student-run advertising and public relations agency<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

McQuary<\/span>\u00a0first learned about Rox<\/span>o<\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>her<\/span>\u00a0advertising class\u00a0<\/span>during\u00a0<\/span>one of the agency\u2019s recruiting<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>presentations. However, she had to wait a year to apply <\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>meet the academic requirements<\/span>, so s<\/span>he looked for alterna<\/span>te<\/span>\u00a0ways to get involved in her major while she waited. She joined the\u00a0<\/span>TCU<\/span>\u00a0Ad<\/span>vertising A<\/span>ssociation<\/span>, which gave her a sense of belonging\u00a0<\/span>before stepping\u00a0<\/span>into the world of Rox<\/span>o.\u00a0<\/span>She was\u00a0<\/span>later\u00a0<\/span>accepted into\u00a0<\/span>Roxo<\/span>\u00a0as\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>\u00a0creative director<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>work<\/span>ing\u00a0<\/span>with Way\u00a0<\/span>Out West Spine Mobility Clinic and\u00a0<\/span>on\u00a0<\/span>a COVID-19 campaign for Roxo<\/span>. She was<\/span>\u00a0put in charge of a seven-person\u00a0<\/span>account\u00a0<\/span>team<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>managing<\/span>\u00a0deadlines<\/span>, strategies<\/span>\u00a0and visual components through\u00a0<\/span>innovati<\/span>on, concept and creation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

McQuary<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>thrive<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0when delegating and juggling multiple tasks because she is flexible and easily adapts. Her position as a creative director allowed her to lead<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>her peers<\/span>, manage<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>conflicts<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span>help<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>her team work together. She encountered several occasions as a creative director where things didn\u2019t go as\u00a0<\/span>planned<\/span>\u00a0and these<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>experiences led her to become a better decision-maker while still being respectful of others\u2019 ideas.\u00a0<\/span>She knew that she wanted to lead the agency further<\/span>, so she decided\u00a0<\/span>to pursue a position on the executive team of Roxo.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

McQuary<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>applied for and earned the position of\u00a0<\/span>Roxo<\/span>\u00a0president for the fall semester of 2020 and she said\u00a0<\/span>it has been the highlight of\u00a0<\/span>her career experience. \u201c<\/span>I love being a part of this agency and am excited to see what\u2019s to come for the future of\u00a0<\/span>Roxo<\/span>,\u201d she said. \u201c<\/span>Leaders have to set the example with dedication and enthusiasm for the task at\u00a0<\/span>hand. I always\u00a0<\/span>try to embody those characteristics when leading the agency<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

McQuary<\/span>\u00a0believes<\/span>\u00a0hard work and dedication\u00a0<\/span>will\u00a0<\/span>one day land her dream of owning a\u00a0<\/span>creative agency, but for now\u00a0<\/span>she\u00a0<\/span>is keeping her<\/span>\u00a0post-graduation<\/span>\u00a0sights set on landing a position at an\u00a0<\/span>advertising or public relations\u00a0<\/span>agency.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
