I originally thought that I wanted to be a director, but I realized while I was at T<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">exas <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">C<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">hristian <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">U<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">niversity<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> that I was more interested in the history and criticism of film.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559740&quot;:450}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What is your favorite movie?<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> ha<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ve worked in foreign films, independent films<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">and horror films so my interests are across those <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">genres<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. The movie that got me<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> hooked into film was a horro<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">r movie called <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Evil Dead II<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> I saw it in high school and the fir<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">st <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Evil Dead<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">film was like a do-it-<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">yourself project. It was <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">filmed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> by <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">a bunch of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">people<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> in their early <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">20s<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">in<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> Michigan. It was <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">like <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">every film kid\u2019s dream of having a small amount of money<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">making a movie on their own and then having it become a huge festival hit that everyone saw<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. It was<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> truly inspiring. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">A<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">more recent favorite movie<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> of mine<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> is <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Handmaiden.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0It has everything<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">:<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> vio<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">lence, humor, history, intrigue.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> I admire movies that have all these <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">different <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">aspects.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559740&quot;:450}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559740&quot;:450}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What are some of your previous work experiences?<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">I inadvertently st<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">umbled into<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> my career<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> path. I was a music director at KTCU, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">TCU\u2019s FM radio station, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> used <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">connections <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">there<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">to get<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> my first internship at <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Tonight Show With Conan O\u2019Brien.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">I moved out to Los Angeles <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">and when <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">the show ended<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">three<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> weeks <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">after getting there, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I went to work for <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Jimmy Kimmel Live.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> At the end of the semester, I realized I didn&#8217;t like living in Los Angeles<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> I had always wanted to live in New York, so I moved there and got a job through my KTCU connections once again. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">The job was at<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> Advanced Alternative Media but my heart was <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">still in the film industry. E<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ventually, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">got a job at Sony Pictures Classics <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">as <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> technical coordinator<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. I got this job<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> simply because I wa<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">s interested in Pedro Almodovar. A<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">t the time<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Midnight in Paris<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> was a huge movie and every other candidate <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">for the job talked about that<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> while<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> I stood out because of my interest in Almodovar. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I ended up<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> working<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> in <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">public<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> relations and marketing side of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> film, which wasn\u2019t intentional at all but I ended up loving it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">After Sony, I went to work at AMC Networks, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">they started an exclusive horror movie streaming service called Shu<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">dd<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">er. It gave me the opportunity to be hands-on with directors and producers be<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> the marketing and public relations manager. I then started working at Gunpowder &amp; Sky, in the<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> independent film side, as the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">irector of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">p<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ublic <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">r<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">elations. They <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">had <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">just acquired a film called <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Her Smell<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">with Elizabeth Moss and I <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">helped<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> get <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">her <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">nomina<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ted for her first Gotham <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Spirit Award<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. T<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">he company got their first nominations<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> as well<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. I just <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">recently <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">left that role to move back to Texas and I am now looking for jobs in Dallas. Once I turned 30, I felt too old <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">to live <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">in New York.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559740&quot;:450}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What\u2019s your favorite work experience?<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">I worke<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> on <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Whiplash<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> which won four Oscars<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. W<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">e had no idea that <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">this <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">movie was going to do that<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">t was so satisfying.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> When I worked <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">at <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Shu<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">dd<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">er<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, we talked to the Sundance Film Festival and they agreed to let us sponsor a party for the midnight section<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> (<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">all the horror movies<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. I was responsible for the planning of this <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">big <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">party for <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">all the industry people. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> spent months doing this. I <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">never had so much responsibility and it went <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">remarkably<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> well. I had no prior experience in event planning<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> but I was passionate about it and cared enough to execute it well. It was a good lesson for me.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559740&quot;:450}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What skills did you gain from your experience in the College of Communication?<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">I got better at <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">the critical analysis of films<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I finally understood <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">what makes<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> movies<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> good and bad<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">how to express <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">in words <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ho<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">w I feel about movies<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. As a<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">part of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">student film making association, we would make <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">movies, which taught me that I was ill<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">-suited for actual filmmaking<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> but I learned the value of working together and collaborating on a set. The true value I got in a college experience was <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">learn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> how to be responsible <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">for myself<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, maintain a schedule and become independent.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559740&quot;:450}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559740&quot;:450}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What was your favorite class at TCU?<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Any class with Dr. Joan McGettigan. She is wonderful<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u00a0 S<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">he teaches critical <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">analysis of films and is well<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">versed in film history. Every time I took one of her courses<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> I was always happy to be there<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. S<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">he is one of those professors that you could just sense their <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">enthusiasm, which<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> helps <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">make the class enjoyable<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. It was <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">so <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">motivating to be around someone who cares so much and wants to share their love of something.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559740&quot;:450}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What do you miss about Fort Worth?<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">I miss the Modern Art Museum<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> I would always go to Magnolia at The Modern on Sundays as a study break.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> They would play movies at The M<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">odern, they were usually Sony Pictures Classics which is funny because I got a job there. I loved the Botanic Gardens too. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3>When you\u2019re not working what do you like to do for fun?<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">I <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">have a Fren<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ch bulldog that I have fun with, and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> I have also really gotten into cooking now that I have a bigger kitchen. I used to cook out of obligation because it was so expensive to eat out in New York. I like going to concerts and movies. I probably go to the movie <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">theater<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> at least once a week and in the busier movie seasons<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, I go two to three times a week.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> I <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">probably <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">see 100+ movies per year. <\/span>\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559740&quot;:450}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Do you have any advice for life after undergrad?<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Every job I got came from me being passionate about th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">e company and the work they did<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> so have passion.
