Areas of Focus

Professor Harrison's areas of expertise include visual storytelling, TV news anchoring/reporting, mobile journalism, international news gathering, radio news anchoring/reporting and podcasting.

Melissa Harrison is a bilingual journalist with more than 20 years of on-air experience in television and radio news. She has worked as a television news anchor/reporter in various newsrooms, including WNBC-TV in New York City, WFAA-TV and KXAS-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth, WBRC-TV in Birmingham, Alabama, WAPT-TV in Jackson, Mississippi, KRBC-TV in Abilene, Texas and KCEN-TV in Waco, Texas. Professor Harrison also worked as a writer for ABC’s World News Tonight and as a news anchor for CBS Radio.
