What made you choose Texas Christian University?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>I chose <\/span>Texas Christian <\/span>U<\/span>niversity<\/span> because of the tight<\/span>–<\/span>knit feel on campus. In addition to <\/span>a top<\/span> education, TCU <\/span>has a global reach. Anywhere I go, I am always able to find <\/span>someone <\/span>from<\/span> the<\/span> TCU<\/span> family.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What <\/span><\/b>was<\/span><\/b> your most memorable experience at TCU?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>Attending the Big 12 Championship<\/span> in 2017<\/span> and cheering on <\/span>the <\/span>TCU football<\/span> team<\/span>. Traveling with<\/span> a <\/span>huge portion of the campus to the nearby <\/span>AT&T Stadium<\/span> was an experience like no\u00a0<\/span>other. We met so many alumni and got <\/span>to <\/span>feel the extent of the <\/span>TCU<\/span> community. <\/span>Also, <\/span>it<\/span> was\u00a0<\/span>so exciting to see our team <\/span>play <\/span>on <\/span>that level<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What <\/span><\/b>was<\/span><\/b> your favorite class?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>I took a Comics Production class. I was so excited to jump into it,\u00a0<\/span>especially since I had no prior knowledge of the comic industry or even how to begin\u00a0<\/span>drawing and formatting one. It really helped me to expand upon my visual\u00a0<\/span>communication skills and was really intriguing. Each class was a blast!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you could go back in time to your first year, what advice would<\/span><\/b> you<\/span><\/b> give<\/span><\/b> yourself?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>I would tell my younger self to enjoy all the small things. I <\/span>could not<\/span> believe how fast time<\/span> flew <\/span>by. So many <\/span>times,<\/span> when I was younger<\/span>,<\/span> I looked past<\/span> the<\/span> little things like lunch with my friends, photos by <\/span>F<\/span>rog <\/span>F<\/span>ountain, or even an interesting <\/span>first-year<\/span> seminar. I would tell myself to take each opportunity I can and make the most of each moment on campus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Where <\/span><\/b>was<\/span><\/b> your favorite place to study?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>My favorite place to study would probably have to be the second floor <\/span>of the Tucker Technology building<\/span>. With all the <\/span>floor-to-ceiling glass windows, it always <\/span>felt<\/span> open and bright. Also, it usually isn<\/span>\u2019t as<\/span> packed as the library, so fewer distractions!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you choose to major in communication studies?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>When I entered <\/span>TCU,<\/span> I was <\/span>a <\/span>pre-business major with plans to go into <\/span>b<\/span>usiness <\/span>i<\/span>nformation\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>ystems or <\/span>m<\/span>arketing. However, <\/span>midway<\/span> through my sophomore year, and after my first\u00a0<\/span>I<\/span>ntro<\/span>duction to the<\/span> A<\/span>ccounting class, I realized I wanted to explore <\/span>the <\/span>more creative side of\u00a0<\/span>marketing. After talking with my advisor, I began to explore the <\/span>Communication Studies<\/span> department<\/span> and enrolled in a Media Literacy class. It helped me realize that <\/span>the c<\/span>omm<\/span>unication s<\/span>tudies <\/span>major <\/span>had such a broad reach and I could tailor it to exactly what I wanted. In the end, I feel that I successfully was able to design my own degree and feel prepared entering a future\u00a0<\/span>marketing career.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is interesting about your major that you would like people to know?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>Communication studies<\/span> is so much more than a basic communication degree. The classes I have <\/span>taken, especially in the upper levels, <\/span>taught me so much about myself and how to become my best version of a communicator. When you think about it, every industry requires solid communication to get any task accomplished. You can add your own twist and allow this degree to take you anywhere.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bonan<\/span> is now working as a social media and marketing associate at DPAA in New York City.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
