What drew you to T<\/span><\/b>exas Christian University<\/span><\/b>?\u00a0<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>I applied to a bunch of colleges in <\/span>different<\/span> states and after I got into TCU, I toured the campus and really fell in love. I was originally a business major, which also drew me to the school<\/span>. B<\/span>ut overall, I fell in love with the campus right away.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How did you decide that comm<\/span><\/b>unication<\/span><\/b> studies was the right program for you?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>Originally, I was a business major with a communication <\/span>studies <\/span>minor, but after my <\/span>I<\/span>nterpersonal <\/span>C<\/span>ommunication class, I switched to a communication <\/span>studies <\/span>major, and I\u2019m so happy I did. I really enjoy all the classes that I\u2019ve taken so far as well as the professors.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What has been <\/span><\/b>the most impactful<\/span><\/b> experience <\/span><\/b>for you <\/span><\/b>in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>M<\/span>y favorite class I\u2019ve taken is definitely <\/span>I<\/span>nterpersonal <\/span>C<\/span>ommunication. I had <\/span>Dr. <\/span>Kristen<\/span> Carr<\/span>,<\/span> and she really sold me on becoming a communication <\/span>studies <\/span>major because she did such a good job connecting what we were learning in the textbook to her life and our lives. Something else that I really like about the <\/span>Schieffer College<\/span> is that I\u2019ve met people that I hang out with outside of class now.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is one quality<\/span><\/b> or <\/span><\/b>characteristic<\/span><\/b> you have that has helped you do well <\/span><\/b>at TCU<\/span><\/b>?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>I think that I\u2019m pretty determined, and when I set a goal, I really try to reach that goal. I found myself kind of struggling in the business school and I made sure that I didn\u2019t give up, which is why I switched my business major to a minor. TCU really expects a lot from its students, and I think that determination is key to doing well in classe<\/span>s<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who has helped <\/span><\/b>or guided <\/span><\/b>you<\/span><\/b> the most <\/span><\/b>in your education<\/span><\/b>?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>I would definitely say my family because my sister graduated from college, so she knows the ins and outs of what to expect while you\u2019re in college. My dad has also been really helpful because he helps me put things into a real-world perspective.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the mos<\/span><\/b>t<\/span><\/b> important thing you have learned so far?\u00a0<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>I think that one thing is being open to change. I\u2019d never been to Texas before I came to TCU, so that was an impactful transition for me. I also didn\u2019t know anyone coming to TCU, so it\u2019s really important to be able to branch out and accept challenges and changes that come.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How has your comm<\/span><\/b>unication studies<\/span><\/b> education benefited you in other endeavors?\u00a0<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>I<\/span> have been <\/span>the president of the <\/span>E<\/span>nvironmental <\/span>C<\/span>lub and I think that <\/span>many <\/span>of the different communication classes I\u2019ve taken have helped as I\u2019ve spoken with so many different types of people and organizations. It\u2019s important to know how to communicate with people and being in a position of leadership is not something\u00a0<\/span>I was<\/span> used to<\/span>. T<\/span>hrough <\/span>I<\/span>nterpersonal <\/span>C<\/span>ommunication and <\/span>C<\/span>ommunication <\/span>T<\/span>heory I\u2019ve learned how to be a better leader and communicator.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is your favorite thing about Fort Worth?<\/span><\/b>
\n<\/span>I love the size of Fort Worth. It is a city and can feel big, but it also has a small-town feel. I also love how everyone who\u2019s from Fort Worth is absolutely in love with it<\/span>. T<\/span>hey\u2019re really dedicated and passionate about where they\u2019re from.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
