Caroline Chandonnet has never woken up on a Monday with the feeling of not wanting to go to work. <\/span>She <\/span>loves her job<\/span> as a <\/span>k<\/span>ey <\/span>a<\/span>ccount <\/span>r<\/span>epresentative at Yeti Coolers in Austin, Texas,<\/span> and sa<\/span>id<\/span>, <\/span>\u201c<\/span>I <\/span>will stay at Yeti as long as they will have <\/span>me<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chandonnet<\/span> truly believes in the mission of the Yeti Cooler brand, just like so many of her fellow employees. \u201cThe<\/span> thing that makes <\/span>our<\/span> company culture so strong is that employees <\/span>t<\/span>ruly have an emotional attachment to the brand<\/span>. We <\/span>love to be outside, adventure, and live what we preach as a brand<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d <\/span>she said<\/span>. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>T<\/span>he brand is so easy to love and get behind. It promotes a healthy lifestyle, spending time with friends and family, getting outside, and getting involved<\/span>. <\/span>I<\/span>n a world filled with technology and distractions,<\/span> it\u2019s so important to have brands like Yeti Coolers that remind us of what\u2019s really important.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yeti Cooler<\/span>s<\/span> employees have been working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic since the first week of March 2020. <\/span>\u201cThe<\/span> Yeti Cooler office <\/span>is<\/span> like a second home <\/span>to me. So many<\/span> of <\/span>my<\/span> teammates and colleagues have become <\/span>my<\/span> closest friends<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d <\/span>Chandonnet<\/span> said<\/span>. \u201c<\/span>Because of this, <\/span>my<\/span> switch to working remotely was not the easiest adjustment. <\/span>W<\/span>hen <\/span>my<\/span> office <\/span>transitioned<\/span> to remote working due to the COVID-19 pandemic, <\/span>my<\/span> team prioritized staying connected with one another<\/span>.<\/span> We <\/span>didn\u2019t want to lose the feeling of b<\/span>eing<\/span> cohesive as a team<\/span>.\u201d<\/span> As a result, her team has met at 9<\/span> a<\/span>.<\/span>m<\/span>.<\/span> every weekday since the onset of the pandemic.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chandonnet attributes a large part of her career success to the communication skills she learned in her communication studies minor at T<\/span>exas Christian University<\/span>. <\/span>\u201cI\u2019ve learned to alter my communication style based on who I\u2019m working with. I\u2019ve realized how I communicate in a direct way and love to talk but that other people have different styles of communication,\u201d she said. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Learning<\/span> to adjust <\/span>my<\/span> communication styl<\/span>e<\/span> drastically improve<\/span>d <\/span>my<\/span> interpersonal communication skills<\/span>, <\/span>help<\/span>ing<\/span> me<\/span> form <\/span>better, stronger relationships with coworkers and clients.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Resilience is a skill that Chandonnet learned the value of at Yeti<\/span> Coolers<\/span>. She applied <\/span>twice for her current role and had to learn how to overcome questioning and doubting herself and her abilities.<\/span> \u201cYou may know what you want, but it may not come to you immediately. You need to pursue it if it\u2019s what you truly want<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d<\/span> she said.<\/span> She encourages current students to practice resiliency and know that \u201cif you don\u2019t get it, it might just not be your time.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to resiliency, Chandonnet encourages students to have a strong work ethic<\/span>. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Having a strong work ethic shows people more than you would think<\/span>. P<\/span>eople recognize it even when you feel like they don\u2019t<\/span>, and i<\/span>t leads<\/span> to an unspoken good feeling toward you<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d<\/span> she said. Moreover, s<\/span>he mention<\/span>ed<\/span> that Yeti Coolers does a great job of rewarding individuals who are hard workers<\/span> and that the company wants to see those people succeed.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chandonnet<\/span> offered some<\/span> final words of advice <\/span>for students to achieve career success. \u201cA<\/span>ll you have to do is make your interests known and put in the work<\/span>,\u201d she said. <\/span>Hopefully, Bob Schieffer College of Communication <\/span>s<\/span>tudents will <\/span>heed<\/span> her advice and find the same success as Chandonnet.
