Kaitlyn Cosenza<\/span>\u00a0was born in Newport Beach, California, and now works in Austin, Texas, as an <\/span>a<\/span>cquisition <\/span>a<\/span>ccount <\/span>e<\/span>xecutive for AT&T. Cosenza graduated from Texas Christian University in 2017 with a <\/span>bachelor\u2019s <\/span>degree <\/span>in communication studies<\/span> and<\/span> minors in Spanish<\/span>, <\/span>Hispanic <\/span>s<\/span>tudies and <\/span>g<\/span>eneral <\/span>b<\/span>usiness.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked what she misses most about TCU, she said, \u201cLiving so close to all my friends, walking <\/span>around campus, and not having to deal with<\/span> real<\/span>–<\/span>world stuff. I always describe being at TCU <\/span>is <\/span>like living at a country club.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In <\/span>high school, Cosenza was <\/span>attracted<\/span> to TCU because she had heard good things from friends who went <\/span>there<\/span>.<\/span> At the time, 2012, TCU was not a popular school for Southern Californians.<\/span> \u201cI was drawn to TCU because it felt like a big school, with good sports, but the class sizes were still small enough that the professors would know me<\/span>,\u201d she said. \u201c<\/span>I really liked the idea of being able to connect with my professors and other students in the classroom<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cosenza\u2019s <\/span>favorite class was Family Communication with <\/span>Carrie <\/span>Moore. \u201cI felt that I really got to connect with not only my classmates but also my own family<\/span>,\u201d she said. \u201c<\/span>We really opened up about how our families communicated and it was so interested to me to learn\u00a0<\/span>how and why<\/span>\u00a0each family dynamic is so different<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cosenza believes that the most valuable lesson being a communication major taught her was to be an adaptive learner. \u201cIt had me learning in the classroom, at my internship, in Russia during a study abroad program and even now in my everyday life. <\/span>I use the skills and theories I learned in my communication classes at TCU to effectively communicate with my clients, upper management and my team members each day<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d she said. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>I would <\/span>describe my time at the Bob Schieffer College of Communication as i<\/span>ntentional interpersonal learning.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking back on the classes she wished she had taken, Cosenza said she wished she had taken <\/span>N<\/span>onverbal <\/span>C<\/span>ommunication but did not in fear of getting a low grade. \u201cI decided not to take it because I heard the professor was extremely hard<\/span>,\u201d she said. \u201c<\/span>Looking back, I shouldn\u2019t have worried about getting a low grade in the class but instead should have studied harder and learned a ton<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When not on campus, Cosenza\u2019s favorite place to be was walking through the beautiful Colonial Country Club neighborhoods to the path along the Trinity River.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a student, Cosenza saw herself working in the sports marketing industry<\/span>. She <\/span>never imagined where she would be today, in sales and account management for a Fortune <\/span>500<\/span> company, AT&T. While it is her first job out of college, she loves it. \u201cIt is nothing I could have imagined, and each day is something totally different! I like the challenge each day brings<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d she said.<\/span> \u201cI <\/span>believe it was my internships that helped prepare <\/span>me<\/span> for work and initiate <\/span>my<\/span> corporate America business acumen.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
