Life has been far from boring for Laura Rohweder <\/span>\u201915 <\/span>after graduating from Texas Christian University. <\/span>Known<\/span> at TCU <\/span>as Laura Patzke, <\/span>she<\/span> later <\/span>fell in love with<\/span> and married <\/span>Jimmy Rohweder<\/span>, and they are now expecting their first child. While <\/span>she anticipates her baby\u2019s arrival<\/span>, Rohweder spends her mornings drinking decaf coffee, loving on her ginger cat named Reba, and <\/span>preparing for her new teaching career<\/span>. She always knew having a communication<\/span> degree would offer versatility for any career pursuit<\/span>.<\/span> “My career has taken me <\/span>from<\/span> working in finance to working with young children,” she said. “I am now working on a <\/span>grade level certification.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rohweder dove into life as a TCU student. She knew that becoming a part of the TCU family was where she was meant to be. “My mom works at TCU, and I was fortunate enough to see the opportunities that <\/span>were<\/span> available to me<\/span>.<\/span> I just knew TCU was the right place for me,” she said. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>With that in mind, <\/span>I<\/span> became an active member of a sorority with the sorority bid day becoming one of <\/span>my<\/span> favorite memories.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rohweder<\/span>\u2019s art talents began to surface at TCU.<\/span> “Drawing is a passion of mine, and my favorite class was Therapeutic Art with Dr. Amanda Allison. She really helped develop my skill of drawing,” she said.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of Rohweder’s favorite study spots was Einstein Bros. Bagels<\/span>.<\/span> “Living off-campus <\/span>made it<\/span> a little more difficult for me to get involved, but the many study sessions at this place helped me <\/span>get <\/span>outside of my usual comfort zone<\/span>.<\/span> I was able to make many friends,” she said.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rohweder encourages incoming first-year students to make friends<\/span>.<\/span> “Don’t be shy, join a club and put yourself out there<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
