Carson Rahrig<\/span> \u201815<\/span> graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in <\/span>c<\/span>ommunication <\/span>s<\/span>tudies. <\/span>Since she was<\/span> from the D<\/span>allas-Fort Worth<\/span> area<\/span>, Rahrig<\/span> was <\/span>first <\/span>opposed<\/span> to <\/span>attending <\/span>a local school like <\/span>TCU<\/span>\u2026<\/span> that was until <\/span>s<\/span>he stepped on campus. <\/span>Sh<\/span>e loved the energy on campus and all that the <\/span>u<\/span>niversity had to offer <\/span>and decided this was going to be the college of her choice.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rahrig started TCU a<\/span>s<\/span> a political science major until taking <\/span>her first<\/span> communication class <\/span>as<\/span> an elective. \u201cI instantly fell in love with <\/span>c<\/span>ommunication <\/span>s<\/span>tudies. I discussed class options and opportunities with various professors and switched that same day<\/span>,\u201d she said. \u201c<\/span>It was the best decision of my life<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d <\/span>In fact, o<\/span>ne of h<\/span>er<\/span> favorite memories from TCU was <\/span>the <\/span>communication studies <\/span>study abroad program<\/span> where she went to Russia.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rahrig\u00a0<\/span>works as a <\/span>c<\/span>ommunication and <\/span>o<\/span>rganization <\/span>s<\/span>ervices <\/span>c<\/span>oordinator at Fogo de Chao. <\/span>Sh<\/span>e never planned on a career in the restaurant business, but h<\/span>er<\/span> love for food <\/span>influenced her decision to take the job. Sh<\/span>e goes on to explain how much <\/span>s<\/span>he has enjoyed learning <\/span>the ins and outs that go into operating a restaurant.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy job has been amazing. TCU definitely helped me improve my writing skills and prepared me for this position. Public speaking is something I have to do every day in my career and my communication studies degree helped me with this exponentially<\/span>,\u201d<\/span> she said.<\/span> \u201c<\/span>Changing my major to <\/span>co<\/span>mmunication <\/span>s<\/span>tudies was the biggest turning point in my life<\/span>. If I wouldn\u2019t have changed it, I would be doing something completely different with my life<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rahrig<\/span>\u2019s <\/span>advice to TCU students is to enjoy your time at TCU, don\u2019t put t<\/span>o<\/span>o much pressure on yourself <\/span>and<\/span> it all will work<\/span> out.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
