Meet Connor Sheperd

Name: Conner Shepherd
Major: Communication Studies
Class: Junior
Hometown: Upland, California

Connor Sheperd is a communication studies major from Upland, California. He grew up playing baseball and when considering schools to attend to pursue his athletic and academic career, Texas Christian University struck a great interest. Although from California, he always wanted to move to Texas. He said he knew TCU was right for him because he felt TCU was both great in academics and baseball.

Choosing communication studies as a major was easy for Sheperd. “I thought it would be good to have a solid foundation of learning how to communicate by also understanding how others communicate,” he said. “My dream is to play professional baseball one day. If that doesn’t work out, I plan to go into either coaching or sales/training development.  My favorite class I’ve taken so far is Training and Development because it’s something I see myself doing in the future.”

When asked what advice he would give to first-year students, Sheperd said it would be to take a wide variety of classes to learn what you are interested in. “You may think you know what your interests are but you never do until you put yourself out there to try new things,” he said.

In his free time, when he’s not busy with school or baseball, Sheperd enjoys playing video games and reading.
