Why You Should Study Abroad

Where did you study abroad? Did you travel to any other places?

I studied abroad in Seville, Spain, which is now my favorite city in the entire world. Although I also got to travel to many other places, Spain was my favorite country.

What is the best memory from your experience?

One of my most memorable experiences happened on a daily basis. Eating homemade paella (a famous Spanish dish of rice and seafood) and churros (a fried-dough pastry) with my 80-year-old host mom, Ines, was always so much fun. She spoke no English, so trying to understand her plethora of stories in Spanish was an adventure in itself.

Why do you recommend studying abroad?

Although the first few days in a new country can be intimidating, I think every college student would benefit from studying abroad. It opened my eyes to learn that there is so much to see in the world. I met people from different cultures, and built amazing relationships along the way.

Did you get closer to your TCU community by studying abroad together?

There were 26 other TCU students living in Seville with me, and we were constantly together. Whether a group of us decided to fly to Paris for the weekend, or meet up at the “discoteca” for a night out, it was us against the world. It’s so amazing to be back with such a large family of people that fell in love with the same city as me.
