FTDM Study Abroad Students Meet Director Peter Weir in Australia

weir Recently, TCU students had the privilege of talking to director Peter Weir about his 1975 film Picnic at Hanging Rock while visiting that landmark near Melbourne, Australia. By chance, the students visited Hanging Rock on the same day as Weir, who had not been back to that location since he originally made the film nearly four decades ago. The students, who were traveling abroad with the Film, Television and Digital Media Department, went to Australia and New Zealand to study the region’s media, including Weir’s 1975 Australian New Wave classic. Weir is one of today’s best-known filmmakers, having directed works such as Dead Poet’s Society, Gallipoli, Master and Commander, The Truman Show, and The Way Back.
